Southpole’s Status combines Facebook Status updatess with the live-imagery of a webcam setup at the research station Neumayer in the Antarctic. The work is published in the form of a Screensaver. People can stare at the grainy live image of the webcam next to the status updates of their friends like an endless television program. No interaction necessary.
Thanks to modern media we can just stay seated in front of a screen and consume images, without ever having to move and really visit our friends, or the Antarctic.
