The elective “Gamification”, which I taught in trimester 2 2012/2013 at the Willem The Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Students got introduced to the basics of game-design, game-theory and game-mechanics in order to design game-mechanisms for non-game-related environments. Besides keeping a critical eye on how Gamification can manipulate social behavior students developed prototypes for a gamified learning environment. Prodemos invited students to develop new game ideas for their space and presented their ideas in a pitch situation, where three were selected for further development.
